Her tetiðe bastýkça 1,5 ekmeði çöpe atýyoruz düðünlerde.

Þu an ABD de Washington kongre kütüphanesi; 32,2 milyon kitap+70 milyon el yazmasý+3,6 milyon kayýt+8,1 milyon müzik notasý+5,5 milyon harita+14 milyon foto.

Harvard Üniversitesi Kütüphanesi: 15,965,675

Boston Halk Kütüphanesi: 15,760,879

Yale Üniversitesi Kütüphanesi: 12,283,594

Deðiþmez kural: Ne kadar kitap o kadar kalkýnma.

Book and Weapon Balance

I attended a wedding in a town over the weekend.

A banner that said “No guns are allowed at our wedding” was hung to the left of the stage.

But the gunfire was never far away.

Everyone who came to the center of the wedding was grabbing their guns as if it was a necessity and making them shoot.

Special guns were developed just to make more noise.

I asked the price of a bullet.

They said it was around 10 TL on average.

As a nation, our respect for bread is indisputable.

We consider throwing away a slice of bread as a great waste.

We throw away 1.5 loaves of bread at weddings with every pull of the trigger.

In addition to the great waste, there is also the risk of firing a gun into the air, tired bullets and other possible accidents that could turn the wedding into a mourning.

The incident has escalated to another point…

They are giving heavy guns to the hands of little children, thinking that they should grow from the seeds(!).

They even said that the wedding host was distributing bullets to the guests.

I met with the mukhtar and the prominent people of the town/neighborhood and made the following suggestion.

Let's build a beautiful, multipurpose library in our neighborhood, and let's get these children used to books and reading/writing from an early age.

Let's direct those whose love of guns outweighs their love of books to armed professions such as military and police/guard.

And please, let's put an end to this ingrained, primitive habit of shooting into the air at weddings.

A nation cannot raise its position among contemporary nations unless it can give the book the weight in the balance between books and guns.

Guns should be at the disposal of books.

The level of development of countries is directly proportional to the number of books they have in their libraries.

When the Abbasids were at their peak, the Baghdad library,

When the Ottomans were at their peak, the Istanbul library,

When England was at its peak, the London library.

Currently, the Washington Library of Congress in the USA; 32.2 million books + 70 million manuscripts + 3.6 million records + 8.1 million musical scores + 5.5 million maps + 14 million photographs.

Harvard University Library: 15,965,675

Boston Public Library: 15,760,879

Yale University Library: 12,283,594

The immutable rule: The more books, the more development.
